There are two types of the hostel in Prague: seasonal ones that open only during the summer or the ones that open all year round. There is not much difference between them as both caters to budget travellers. Also, in July and August student hostels are opened to visitors, so even during peak periods, there is usually no shortage of cheap hostels. Most hostels offer dormitory rooms for 4, 6, 8 or 10 people. Smaller rooms are usually harder to come by. Generally, rooms in hostels are quite small and the hostels are situated a bit further from the city centre. If you find a hostel in the city centre be prepared to pay a similar price to a cheaper hotel on the outskirts. But if you don’t mind seeing other places outside the historical centre of Prague, don’t care much about comfort and would rather save money, hostels are a good choice as they tend to be safe and clean.
