Czech Christmas markets are considered some of the most beautiful in the whole of Europe. And according to various sources, including USA Today, Prague Christmas markets rank among the most charming Christmas destinations. It is the time of the year when Prague gets quite busy, but it has good reason. Whether you head for Prague Old Town Square or other Czech cities, everywhere you can soak up the Christmas atmosphere in the most delightful way. The Advent seasons starts on November 26, and on this very day, Christmas trees are lit up all over the Czech Republic. If you are lucky and it snows, the atmosphere is even more enthralling.
Christmas markets in Prague are traditionally held virtually on every corner. However, the main centres of all festivities are traditionally Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square, illuminated with thousands of beautiful lights. There will be an advent village with stalls packed full of treats or traditional Christmas goods. The sweet smell of punch and mulled wine will waft through the city. A Christmas tree will be officially switched on, on Old Town Square on November 26. Throughout the whole of Advent time, you can look forward to an extensive additional programme including concerts, performances and fun for everyone. As in previous years, Prague Castle will once again shine bright as thousands of beautiful lights will be switched on and Christmas markets will be opened. The area of the world’s largest castle complex will offer high-quality Christmas-style products. Smaller Christmas markets will take place literally throughout the whole of Prague, not forgetting to mention those on the Republic Square and Peace Square.
