Built in 1932 by Slovenian architect Josip Plecnik, this very unusual building looks like a train station or a stone freighter with a glass clocktower for a wheelhouse. Early Christian basilicas and Egyptian temples inspired the church. The interior is simple with a red and black colour scheme. Plečnik also had a sharp eye for detail; lookout for the little gold crosses inset into the brickwork like stars, inside and out, and the celestial orbs of light suspended above the congregation. It stands proudly in the middle of square Jiriho z Podebrad.
